The staff at Planet can undertake magnetometer  surveys anywhere within the UK. Using our own 10 metre survey boat "SPITTS II", we can provide a professional survey service for our clients.

Over the past three years we have specialized in surveying for historic shipwrecks. The experience gained from locating this type of wooden shipwreck has lead to the development of the MX500 Dual Digital Magnetometer. To further enhance our ability to conduct precise magnetic surveys, we have also developed a unique computer controlled boat guidance system. By estimating  the mass of ferrous material on the target wreck, a survey grid is designed with the lane spacing chosen to ensure that all significant  ferrous object within the grid area will be located. The boat is then steered  precisely along each grid line by computer, with all survey data logged to memory. The advantage of the dual magnetometer system is that it makes  it possible to identify small magnetic  anomalies that could easily be missed using a single magnetometer system. In addition, dirunal variations in the Earth's magnetic field intensity caused by particles thrown out by the Sun can be easily identified and are not misinterpreted as possible targets.

Call for a quote for your project you will be surprised how cost effective it can be for clients who do not have the expertise or equipment to carry out a survey themselves.

Key Benefits

Survey vessel fully equipped with dual magnetometer, colour sounder and DGPS.
Unique computer controlled boat guidance system ensures precise tracking of survey grids.
The dual magnetometer system allows wider survey grid lanes to be used cutting down the survey time and minimizing false targets.
Trained staff will conduct the survey.
Complete confidentiality is ensured.

Capabilities

Our survey vessel SPITTS II is a 10 metre Offshore 105 fitted with a 400 hp turbo diesel engine. A cruising speed of 15 knots means most offshore sites can be reached in a few hours from the local port. The vessel provides a stable platform for operating the survey equipment.
